Martin Arnold has worked for the Financial Times since 1999 and been the FT’s financial regulation editor since 2024. Before that he was Frankfurt bureau chief, covering theEuropean Central Bank and the Eurozone economy for five years.. During his two decades at the FT, he has also worked in London, Paris and New York. Previous roles include banking editor, deputy companies editor, Paris correspondent and private equity correspondent.

As the FT’s private equity correspondent he won the British Private Equity and Venture CapitalAssociation award of correspondent of the year and was shortlisted for scoop of the year at the Business Journalist of the Year awards.

He received a masters degree in journalism from Goldsmith College in London and an undergraduate degree in French and Politics from Leeds University.
