Srdja Popovic is a Serbian democracy advocate and founder of the Centre for Applied Nonviolent Action and Strategies (CANVAS), which helps teach activists from more than 50 countries on the art of nonviolent protest, including financial freedom trainings with Bitcoin. He was a leader of the Serbian nonviolent resistance group Otpor!, which ultimately and peacefully toppled the dictator Slobodan Milosevic in October 2000 when thousands of citizens took over the Serbian Parliament. After the revolution, he served a term as a member of the Serbian National Assembly and has since been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and been named a WEF Young Global Leader and a Foreign Policy Top 100 Global Thinker. He served as Rector of the University of St Andrews and is the author of Blueprint for Revolution: How to Use Rice Pudding, Lego Men, and Other Nonviolent Techniques to Galvanize Communities, Overthrow Dictators, or Simply Change the World.
